Performs necessary painting and refinishing of exterior building surfaces, inside walls, furniture and equipment

This position is located at Henry Ford Providence-Southfield, MI.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates personal commitment to the organization's core values through active involvement in the quality improvement process.
• Prepares surfaces for painting. Requires washing, scraping, sanding, and the filling of nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler.
• Applies coats of paint, varnish, enamels, to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and equipment of the hospital. Uses paint brushes, rollers, and scrapers. Refinishes articles, such as cabinets and doors.
• Selects premixed paints. Blends and mixes paints and stains as needed.
• Spreads cloths or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
• Keeps records of time spent per job and materials used.
• Performs routine plastering work as assigned.
• Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
• Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.

Qualifications

Education:

• On-the-job, vocational, trade school, etc. required. Journeyman card - preferred.

Experience:

• Four (4) years as a professional painter preferably in a hospital - required.
