Maintenance Mechanic

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Repairs doors and door frames, to include changing and repairing locks and cores.
• General knowledge of key cutting procedures.
• Bores and installs different types of lock styles.
• Interprets drawings, blueprints, and instruction manuals.
• Measures and lays out work independently.
• Ensures proper use of power tools such as electric mortar mixers, masonry saws, grinders, drills and hand tools such as trowels, chisels, and masonry hammers.
• Grouts and purges walls and other surfaces.
• Removes and repairs masonry structures.
• Determines the layout, measurements, materials, and tools required to construct concrete structures (walls, slabs, footers, form, etc.).
• Operates power tools such as gasoline powered trowel machine, concrete vibrators, saws, jack hammers, and hand tools such as floats, trowels, screeds, shovels, rakes, and Georgia buggies.
• Operates heavy equipment such as a backhoe.
• Uses formulas to calculate and determine various strengths and grades of concrete.
• Assembles, constructs, reconstructs, and repairs metal furniture, shelving and other items pertaining to metal work.
• Repairs and replaces all parts of bedside stands and cabinets and hospital equipment of various kinds.
• Operates various pieces of equipment, power and hand drill presses, power band, cut off saws, power planes, and metal brakes.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs, installs or replaces building service hardware, floor covering, ceiling tile, roofs, windows, doors, door frames, metal studs, etc., on existing building and structures.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30

Physical Requirements: Work requires strenuous exertion in building, removing or replacing walls, floors; requires standing for long periods of time, working in or cold areas. Incumbent must work on ladders, scaffolds, and roofs while sitting, kneeling, standing or stooping in an awkward position.
