Senior WebSphere Application Server Administrator (Middleware Engineer)

Must Have

Strong experience administering IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)

Specifically WebSphere Application Server, not WebSphere MQ, Commerce, or other WebSphere products

10+ years of relevant experience preferred

Strong UNIX/Linux administration experience

Strong scripting skills

Shell scripting

Python

Jython

Hands-on troubleshooting and support experience

Nice to Have

WebSphere Liberty experience

CI/CD experience

Cloud exposure (AWS mentioned as a plus)

ServiceNow experience (other ITSM tools such as Remedy are acceptable)

Change management experience

Priorities

1. Deep WebSphere expertise is the top priority.

2. Strong UNIX and scripting skills are critical.

3. Candidates can learn Liberty and cloud technologies more easily than they can learn advanced WebSphere administration.

4. A candidate with moderate cloud/Liberty experience but excellent WebSphere experience is preferred over the reverse.

Seasoned, hands-on middleware administrator

Someone willing to "roll up their sleeves"

Technical contributor rather than a pure lead or manager

Not Looking For

Some after-hours or weekend support may be required occasionally.

Not a heavy on-call environment initially.

Candidate should be willing to participate in support rotations when needed.

Location Preferences

Fully remote can be considered.

Preference for candidates in Eastern or Central time zones.

Candidates near major office locations are favored because occasional in-person meetings/interviews may occur.

Pacific time zone candidates are acceptable if they can align with the team's working hours.
