Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for a Level I/II Trauma OR at a teaching hospital, requiring 3+ years of experience and expertise in DaVinci Xi robotics, eyes, and liver transplant procedures.

Job Details

• General OR setting within a teaching hospital with trauma and transplant capabilities including kidney, liver, pancreas, and thoracic cases,
• Variable shifts of 8, 10, or 12 hours, starting and ending anytime between 6:30 AM and 11:30 PM,
• Scheduled for 36-40 hours per week including weekends and holidays as needed,
• Call required Monday-Friday 9:00 PM-6:30 AM and weekends 6:30 AM-7:00 PM or 6:30 PM-7:00 AM,
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• Epic charting system preferred,

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical technology experience required,
• At least 2 years of Level I (preferred) or Level II (required) Trauma OR experience,
• Teaching hospital experience required,
• Previous travel experience preferred,
• BLS certification required,
• License required if applicable,
• Experience with eyes, DaVinci Xi Robot, and Liver Transplant procedures required,
• Experience in Neuro and Ortho procedures preferred,
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,
• Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred,

Additional Information

• Support surgical procedures across multiple specialties including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, urology, plastics, ENT, and robotics,
• Maintain aseptic technique, instrument processing, and sterilization/disinfection standards,
• Perform Universal Protocol (time out) procedures and adhere to isolation precautions and PPE guidelines,
• Handle specimen labeling, wound care, and suture removal as needed,
• Operate specialized equipment including electrosurgical units, cell saver, drills, and fiber optic light sources,
• First-time travelers may be considered given required experience level,
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate,
• Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility,
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments,
• 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted,
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less,
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
