Kable Workforce Solutions is partnering with a client to add a Plastic Injection Mold Tooling Specialist to their team. You will be the go-to expert keeping high-precision molds running reliably so production stays on schedule and quality stays top-tier.

A day in your life

You clock in and review production priorities, scan maintenance logs, and plan the day’s repairs. A multi-cavity mold hits your bench—cosmetic automotive parts, tight tolerances. You diagnose a gating issue, pull the mold apart, and bring worn components back into spec to match the latest prints and 2D data. Light heat treat, a TIG touch-up, precise hand fitting, and bench work restore form and function. You leak-check water and oil circuits, reassemble, and return the tool to press. In between, you document everything and flag low inventory so the Tooling Supervisor can order what’s needed. When a press calls for help, you troubleshoot on the spot—your decisions directly protect uptime and part quality. You work independently, effectively serving as the internal molding tooling department. Other assignments round out the day.

What you will handle

• Preventive maintenance and repair of plastic injection molds to maximize uptime and quality
• Independent ownership of the molding tooling function within the plant
• Fabrication and refurbishment of components to the latest mold drawings and 2D specifications
• Light heat treating; MIG/TIG weld repair; precision hand fitting; detailed bench work
• Correction of water/oil leaks and verification of proper flow
• Complete site-required records and logs; monitor and report low-stock items to the Tooling Supervisor
• Rapid diagnosis of complex tooling problems impacting cycle time and part appearance
• Hands-on work with multi-cavity, high-finish molds for cosmetic automotive applications
• Execution to tight tolerances with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail
• Other duties as assigned

Your background

• High school diploma or GED
• 4+ years troubleshooting injection molding tooling in a production setting
• 4+ years performing repair and maintenance on plastic injection molds
• Experience supporting molds that produce cosmetic-grade automotive components
• Basic understanding of mold design principles
• Clear, timely communication skills
• Thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred

• CNC machining experience and/or Mastercam programming exposure

Physical and work requirements

• Lift and move 50+ lbs
• Reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, and kneel
• Strong hand–eye coordination
• Ability to stand for extended periods
