Description:

The Safety Officer at Standard Engineering + Field Services, LLC plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment on construction sites. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The Safety Officer will conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, this role involves training employees on safety protocols and emergency procedures to foster a culture of safety within the organization. Ultimately, the Safety Officer's efforts will contribute to minimizing accidents and injuries, ensuring the well-being of all personnel involved in construction projects.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Conduct routine safety inspections of job sites, offices, laboratories, equipment, and work practices to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Provide safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing education for field, laboratory, and office personnel as needed.
• Monitor employee compliance with PPE requirements and other established safety procedures.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, property damage, and near-misses; complete required documentation and assist with identifying corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, policies, procedures, training documentation, and incident reports.
• Work with supervisors, project managers, and employees to address safety concerns and develop practical solutions that support both safe operations and project needs.
• Maintain company and client safety compliance through platforms such as ISNetworld, Avetta, COMPASS, and other required contractor-management systems.
• Stay informed of changes to OSHA regulations, industry standards, and construction safety best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety programs, procedures, training, and employee awareness.
• Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable safety resource while promoting accountability and a proactive safety culture throughout the company.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required; OSHA 500 or 510 certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management within the construction or engineering industry.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, construction practices, and environmental standards.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety plans.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of workers.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
