Registered Nurse (RN) – Biosecurity Screening Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) $50/hour | Full-Time | 6-Month Contract | Immediate Interviews Medix is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join a public health screening initiative at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). This is a unique opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with public health by supporting traveler screening, infectious disease prevention, and health education in a fast-paced airport environment. Position Overview As a Biosecurity Screening Registered Nurse, you will conduct health screenings for arriving international travelers, provide education regarding infectious disease prevention, document findings, and follow established public health protocols. You'll work closely with clinical teams and public health partners while maintaining a safe, professional, and compassionate experience for every traveler. This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy patient interaction, critical thinking, and working in a non-traditional clinical setting. Responsibilities Perform health screenings and clinical assessments for arriving travelers. Conduct passenger interviews and review health questionnaires. Assess travelers for signs and symptoms of communicable illness. Educate travelers on public health recommendations and disease prevention. Accurately document assessments, screenings, and case information. Review medical documentation and laboratory information when applicable. Follow standardized infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols. Utilize standard and transmission-based precautions while providing care. Properly utilize PPE, including N95 respirators, throughout assigned shifts. Escalate clinical concerns according to established protocols. Communicate effectively with internal clinical teams and public health partners. Support case management and follow-up activities. Assist with public health investigations and documentation. Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Ensure all safety procedures and operational protocols are followed. Qualifications Required Active Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience Strong patient assessment and triage skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Comfortable working in a public-facing healthcare environment Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations Comfortable wearing an N95 respirator and other PPE for extended periods while standing and walking Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred: Emergency Department (ED) Urgent Care Critical Care (ICU) Occupational Health Public Health Infection Prevention Infection Control Medical-Surgical Nursing Ambulatory Care Community Health Communicable Disease Screening Schedule This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week contract position. Sunday through Thursday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Sunday through Thursday | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM shift Tuesday through Saturday | 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM Candidates must be flexible to work their assigned schedule based on operational needs. Training All selected candidates are required to attend paid training in Atlanta, Georgia. Training Dates July 28 – July 31 Travel accommodations will be arranged.
