Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and rebuilding engines and related components by accurately following blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, hydraulic presses, and measuring devices to assemble products to exact specifications, perform quality checks, and document any defects or rework. The position requires working safely in a climate-controlled environment on a consistent 2nd shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products.

• Assemble and rebuild engines and install components and parts into engines according to engineering and process specifications.

• Utilize handheld tools such as wrenches, hammers, screw guns, and drill guns to perform mechanical assembly tasks.

• Operate and utilize hydraulic presses safely and effectively during the assembly process.

• Follow established process flow procedures in the work area to maintain consistency and efficiency in production.

• Maintain proper inventory of product and components at workstations to support continuous workflow.

• Perform quality work checks to ensure assembled products meet established quality standards.

• Identify product defects, document findings accurately, and complete required defect or nonconformance documentation.

• Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products in response to engineering specification changes or identified defects.

• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards, standard operating procedures, and established safety guidelines.

• Lift and move components and products weighing up to 50–75 pounds occasionally as part of daily tasks.

• Collaborate with team members and communicate issues related to quality, safety, or production flow to support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical assembly experience, with 6 months to 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a strong plus.

• Experience using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers in a production or assembly environment.

• Proficiency with power tools, including handheld screw guns and drill guns.

• Ability to operate or learn to operate hydraulic presses safely.

• Capability to use measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy.

• Experience performing basic quality checks and identifying product defects.

• Ability to lift and handle 50–75 pounds occasionally.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with engines and engine components.

• Previous assembly experience in manufacturing, especially in medical or automotive fields, is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in mechanical assembly within the medical device or automotive industries is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with process flow procedures and workstation inventory management.

• Comfort working from engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.

• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for recording defects and rework.

• Ability to adapt to engineering specification changes and perform rework or repairs accordingly.

• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established safety procedures.

• Willingness to work assigned 2nd shift hours and, if needed, split shifts with appropriate shift premiums.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled production environment focused on engine rebuilding and mechanical assembly. You will work with hand tools, power tools, hydraulic presses, and measuring tools such as tape measures. The standard schedule operates Monday through Friday with multiple shifts available: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:15 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:30 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. (Sunday through Thursday). This position is designated for 2nd shift, which includes a shift premium, and 3rd shift roles receive a higher premium; split shifts qualify for a premium only when the majority of hours fall on an off shift. The facility supports various skill levels in production roles, including entry-level and advanced machine operators, and maintains a structured yet friendly atmosphere. Employees receive company-provided shirts and hoodies, and a $150 shoe reimbursement helps support appropriate work footwear. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnson Creek, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
