Senior Events & Outreach Coordinator (Part-Time) Are you the kind of person who loves nature and the environment, thrives on variety, loves bringing people together, and finds joy in turning ideas into action? The Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC) is seeking a part-time Senior Events & Outreach Coordinator to help grow and energize our community engagement efforts in support of a more sustainable future for Indiana. The role focuses on tabling and representing HEC at community events, planning HEC events, promoting HEC events through social media and targeted emails, and volunteer management with opportunities to grow HEC’s volunteer program in the future. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys a flexible schedule and work that evolves day to day. The ideal candidate is someone with excellent writing, verbal communication, planning, and time management skills. Volunteer or professional experience in community engagement and event planning is preferred. About the Role Location: Hybrid – Can work remotely, though in-person tasks in person and event attendance will be frequent. Most events occur in central Indiana, but occasional travel statewide is required. Hours: 100 hours per month on average, flexed according to event dates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supporting and advancing HEC’s outreach strategy, helping bring people into our environmental advocacy work; coordinating and executing HEC events, especially within our program, policy, and outreach initiatives. Helping grow HEC’s presence at community events and public-facing activities, including event tabling. Coordinating volunteer inquiries and requests while looking for opportunities to expand HEC’s volunteer program. Collaborating with staff and partners to connect community members, students, and volunteers with meaningful ways to support HEC. Providing project coordination to ensure outreach and engagement efforts are well-organized, timely, and effective. Preferred Qualifications Loves planning, organizing, and keeping multiple projects moving forward. Is adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with change. Experience event planning, in a professional or volunteer capacity. Has a flexible schedule, including availability for occasional evenings or weekends. Thrives in a role where no two days look the same. Is motivated by environmental advocacy and making a difference in Indiana. Possesses strong writing and communication skills. Can competently navigate Microsoft Office Suite, is comfortable working in CRM databases, and has a working knowledge of Canva and Hootsuite. Compensation and Benefits $25.00/hour, with an average of 100 hours/month. Prorated paid holidays. Travel Requirements Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are necessary. Ability to attend and participate in events, workshops, and public meetings, including occasional evenings and weekends. Due to the location of many events and related planning tasks, the ideal candidate will either live in the Indianapolis metropolitan area or be willing to commute to the area very frequently (could be as much as 3 times per week).
