Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Neuro PCU experience required Description: 3x12s, Nights, 7 pm - 7:30 am. Rotating weekends. Float required as needed. All travelers may be floated across all facilities if needed. Minimum 2 years of experience required. First-time travelers are welcomed. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required. Neuro PCU experience is needed. Experience with CVA, External CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, and Yale Swallowing screen is necessary. Previous Charge RN experience is preferred. Experience with 1:5 ratios on a PCU unit is essential. The unit has a primary focus on caring for medical neurological patients. A centralized cardiac monitoring department provides surveillance for patients. Staff is scheduled for 6-week periods via a self-assisted schedule system. Patient ratios are 5 patients per nurse during all shifts. The unit has a bed capacity of 30. Primary patient diagnoses include stroke, tumors with aneurysms, seizure disorders, transient ischemic attacks, traumatic brain injury, movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, headache, and epilepsy monitoring. Stable multiple trauma inclusive of non-isolated head trauma and spinal surgeries are also part of the patient population. Travelers may be floated to any facility as needed. All RNs must pass a compliance EKG exam. Modules required are non-billable and average 2-4 hours. Modules are completed during training and are unit-based.
