Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary:

The Montana State Hospital Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to residents by assisting with daily living activities, basic hygiene, vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and emergency assistance. This role requires strong communication skills, accurate observation and reporting, and the ability to work effectively in a mental health facility. Candidates must have relevant experience in psychiatric or related healthcare settings and be certified as a CNA in Montana. Responsibilities:

Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, oral hygiene, and dressing. Take and record vital signs and collect specimens as required. Provide support during emergency situations. Transport residents to appointments and assist as needed. Communicate information clearly and follow instructions accurately. Make observations and report or record resident conditions accurately. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with residents and team members. Required Skills & Certifications:

Valid Montana Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in psychiatric facilities or related healthcare settings. High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to make accurate observations and documentation. Minimum of 1 year of travel contract experience preferred. Preferred Skills & Certifications:

CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification. Experience working in adult psychiatric facilities. Experience in geriatric care, hospice, or emergency/urgent care settings. Special Considerations:

Must be highly skilled in de-escalation techniques. Flexibility to work holidays and varied facility scheduling. Ability to work in a mental health hospital environment. Travel experience of 1-2 years is required. Scheduling:

Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (night shift). Open shift availability and float pool participation preferred. Scheduling may require flexibility including holidays and variable shift assignments.
