Occupational Therapist

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist. The individual in this role will be responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing, and administering of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. In this role, you will administer treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. The ideal candidate will assist patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide appropriate supervision to assistants/aides.
• Perform an appropriate assessment of each patient and direct each plan of care based on identified deficit areas. This includes pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Observe and evaluate patient responses to treatment and discuss any recommended plan of care changes with the physician.
• Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate the effectiveness of learning; family involvement in teaching is encouraged.
• Interact professionally with patients and families and involve them in the development of the plan of care.
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure that patient needs and policies are followed.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
• Manage and operate modality equipment both safely and correctly.
• Maintain department cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain records pertinent to the operation of the department. Meet current documentation standards and policies.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.
• Identify and address the psychosocial needs of patients and families.
• Communicate appropriately and clearly with physicians, staff, and the administrative team.
• Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and organized and effectively function under stressful situations.
• Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
• Consult with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Participate in educational staff performance improvement in-services.
• Assist with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members.
• Participate in continuing education programs per facility needs, as well as established state/national CEU requirements.
