Position Summary

The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst supports the Data & Analytics function through the development and maintenance of Power BI reports and the preparation of recurring operational and executive KPI reporting.

This is an entry-level, on-site position reporting directly to the Senior Director of Data & Analytics. The analyst will work within established reporting standards, data sources, and KPI definitions while continuing to develop technical and analytical skills.

The primary focus of this position is building and maintaining Power BI reports, ensuring data accuracy, and producing reliable daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reporting for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Reporting and Development

• Build Power BI reports, dashboards, and scorecards based on defined business requirements.
• Maintain, modify, and improve existing Power BI reports.
• Create basic DAX measures, calculated columns, and data relationships.
• Use Power Query to clean, transform, and prepare data.
• Develop clear, consistent, and actionable data visualizations for operational and leadership reporting.
• Publish and maintain reports within Power BI Service.
• Monitor scheduled data refreshes and troubleshoot basic reporting issues.
• Test and validate reports before deployment.
• Follow established reporting, dashboard, and data-visualization standards.

KPI and Leadership Reporting

• Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly KPI reports to senior leadership.
• Maintain recurring operational scorecards and executive reporting.
• Ensure all scheduled reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
• Validate KPI results before distribution.
• Identify significant changes, trends, outliers, and potential data-quality issues for review.
• Prepare charts, tables, and supporting information for leadership and operational meetings.
• Maintain a reporting calendar and ensure required submissions are completed according to schedule.

Data Quality and Validation

• Validate Power BI results against source data.
• Identify discrepancies, missing information, and unusual results.
• Assist with troubleshooting reporting and data-quality issues.
• Monitor existing dashboards for failed refreshes, broken visuals, or unexpected results.
• Maintain documentation of KPI definitions, calculations, data sources, and reporting processes.
• Escalate data-quality or reporting concerns when results cannot be independently validated.

Operational and Analytical Support

• Complete routine and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Assist with the development of new operational KPIs and reporting tools.
• Provide data extracts and basic analysis as requested.
• Support departments with the use and interpretation of existing Power BI reports.
• Develop an understanding of company operations and how operational activity translates into measurable performance.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to clarify reporting needs and requirements.
• Take on increasingly complex reporting and analytical assignments as technical skills develop.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or equivalent demonstrated technical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Basic understanding of data visualization, reporting, and data-validation concepts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple recurring assignments and deadlines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow established reporting processes, definitions, and standards.
• Ability to work independently once expectations and requirements have been established.

Preferred Qualifications

• Power BI experience gained through employment, an internship, college coursework, certification, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with Power Query.
• Basic knowledge of DAX.
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Experience working with operational or healthcare data is helpful but not required.
• Experience preparing recurring reports or dashboards for leadership audiences is preferred.

Development Opportunity

This position is designed as an entry point into Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst will work directly with the Senior Director of Data & Analytics and gain hands-on experience in Power BI development, operational analytics, executive reporting, KPI development, data modeling, and business intelligence.

As the analyst's technical skills and knowledge of the organization develop, the position will take on greater responsibility for independent report development, data analysis, KPI management, and the delivery of reporting solutions that support operational and leadership decision-making.
