Work Environment

Working as a Remote Licensed Mental Health Counselor offers a blend of flexibility and professional engagement. The role sufficiently supports various scheduling needs, including regular business hours, while also accommodating occasional evening sessions based on patient requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of new patients to understand their mental health and substance use history, enabling the development of targeted treatment plans.
• Create individualized treatment strategies that incorporate evidence-based methodologies such as motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, encouraging open communication and active participation among patients.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and addiction specialists, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed, ensuring timely support during emergencies related to substance use.
• Educate patients and their families regarding addiction, recovery options, and local resources to foster a well-rounded support system.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with legal standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficient workflow.
• Participate actively in case consultations and professional development meetings to stay current with advancements in substance use disorder treatment.
• Implement feedback systems to evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust strategies based on patient progress.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves individuals facing substance use disorders, which may include a wide range of dependencies and accompanying mental health issues. As a counselor in our clinic, you will work with patients from diverse backgrounds, each with unique stories and challenges, as they navigate their recovery paths.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid licensure in the state of California, such as LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
• Solid foundation in understanding substance use disorders and related evidence-based treatment practices.
• Proficient in delivering therapeutic interventions to both individuals and groups.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, characterized by an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to care.
• Strong commitment to ethical practice and maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) technologies to enhance patient management and documentation.
• Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing collaboratively towards treatment goals.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in substance use disorder treatment is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of additional therapeutic modalities and interventions is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
