Client Accounting Specialist

Who You Are Experienced in client billing, collections, or financial operations at a law firm You hold a bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, or have equivalent experience Skilled at building strong relationships with internal teams and external clients Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities Proficient in financial systems and Excel reporting tools Strong problem-solver with a proactive, hands-on approach Trusted to handle sensitive information with discretion Experienced in mentoring or training team members What You’ll Do Manage full-cycle billing and collections for assigned attorney and client portfolios Oversee prebill-to-final bill process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client guidelines Communicate directly with clients to clarify billing terms, resolve issues, and follow up on payments Collaborate with eBilling and accounting teams to set up accounts and ensure successful invoice submission Apply and monitor discounts, budgets, rate structures, and fee caps based on outside counsel guidelines Analyze billing trends and prepare monthly forecasts and reports Guide and support junior billing team members through training and mentorship Keep attorneys informed on billing status, collections, and client arrangements Manage unapplied cash and trust balances, resolving issues and applying funds as needed Ensure seamless coverage and support through cross-training and process documentation What Success Looks Like Attorneys and clients rely on your clear, timely billing support Invoices are accurate, submitted promptly, and paid with minimal delays Your portfolio is well-managed, with clean data and up-to-date reporting You contribute to process improvements and more efficient workflows Junior team members thrive with your guidance and expertise You’re a go-to resource for resolving billing issues and improving collections Management values your insights and forecasting accuracy Salary Range: $75,000 - 95,000 annually, based on experience Location: Remote, United States Gainor is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
