Job Description Job Description Position Overview: The Garden and Health Program Education Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of Urban Sprouts' educational programs, focusing primarily on elementary programming. This role focuses on developing and leading garden-based learning experiences, overseeing community engagement initiatives, and ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, primarily with elementary school students. This position will be responsible for direct delivery of the Urban Sprouts education program as well as working in support of the Urban Sprouts leadership team. The Garden and Health Program Education Coordinator may be asked to support other program staff, or oversee interns or volunteers. This position will also include opportunities to collaborate with community partners, and drive innovation in curriculum development to promote food sovereignty, sustainability, and equity and support both fund development and fundraising efforts for the organization. This position requires work to occur in-person at school and program sites throughout the City of San Francisco. Most work must be conducted in-person. Program Development and Implementation Design, implement and deliver garden-based education programs for youth, families, and community groups, focusing on elementary school programming. Develop culturally relevant and age-appropriate curricula focusing on nutrition, environmental science, and food justice. Lead workshops, classes, and hands-on activities in schools, community gardens, and partner sites. Research, develop and pursue contacts for these program opportunities and revenue generating activities. Ensure programs align with state educational standards and community needs. Staff Training and Support As part of the team, help to train and supervise program staff, educators, and volunteers. Assist in the design and implementation of professional development and mentorship opportunities for staff, volunteers and community members. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive work environment. Community Engagement and Partnership Development Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with schools, community centers, and local organizations. Research, develop and pursue new relationships in support of program expansion and revenue building. Act as a liaison between Urban Sprouts and assigned community stakeholders to ensure programs reflect community voices. Represent Urban Sprouts at community events, conferences, and public forums, especially through Urban Sprouts partner programs, and Urban Sprouts sponsored special events, community days, volunteer and corporate workdays, etc. Evaluation and Reporting Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness and impact. Analyze data and prepare reports for funders, board members, and stakeholders on a regular cadence and consistent basis, as assigned. Use feedback and evaluation findings to refine and improve programs. Fund Development and Grant Support Collaborate with the team to contribute to grant writing and reporting, grant program research and pursuit and delivery of all grant related deliverables. Identify funding opportunities to sustain and expand educational programs. This includes, but is not limited to, fundraising opportunities and events, sponsorships and corporate support, member and donor contributions, grants and foundation support and fee-for-service revenue generation. Support fundraising events and donor engagement initiatives. We expect this position to consistently reach 20 hours per week, with occasional additional hours, including irregular evening, weekend and fill-in hours available.
