THAI DINER — SOUS CHEF Salary: $80,000–$85,000, based on experience Thai Diner is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team. We are a chef-owned, high-volume restaurant in downtown NYC with a busy, fast-paced kitchen and a strong, established team. We’re looking for someone who loves cooking, takes pride in running a great service, and genuinely enjoys leading and developing people. Strong leadership and team-building skills are a must. We’re looking for someone who can run a strong kitchen and build a strong team. High standards, accountability, organization, and attention to detail are essential—but so are kindness, respect, and the ability to earn the trust of the people you lead. We believe the best kitchens can be demanding without being toxic. We want someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and understands that being a good human and being a strong leader go hand in hand. Requirements 3+ years of kitchen management experience in a high-volume restaurant Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills Excellent organization and attention to detail Strong communication skills Ability to lead a busy service calmly and confidently Experience training and developing cooks High standards for food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and organization Positive, team-oriented attitude Open availability Responsibilities Lead and direct the day-to-day flow of kitchen operations and service Provide consistent, hands-on leadership and lead by example Mentor, train, and develop cooks Help build a positive, respectful, and accountable kitchen culture Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing education of kitchen staff Maintain consistency and quality of food throughout service Ensure kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards are consistently met Perform opening and closing management responsibilities Communicate and collaborate closely with the Chef and management team Identify problems, take initiative, and help continuously improve kitchen operations Benefits Salary: $80,000–$85,000, based on experience Health insurance Paid Time Off Wellness/Gym benefit Please send your resume along with a brief note introducing yourself and telling us why you’re interested in joining Thai Diner.
