Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: MO or Compact License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI (preferred), NIHSS (preferred) Must-Have: First-timers accepted Weekend requirement: Every other weekend Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical and telemetry care. The nurse will work in a transitional care unit, providing care for patients waiting to be admitted to the hospital. Care begins in the emergency department until beds become available. Key responsibilities include interpreting dysrhythmias, managing IV insulin protocols, and feeding tube care. The nurse will also handle pre/post hemodialysis management, central line care, and blood product administration. Additional duties include performing phlebotomy, managing PICC lines, and starting IVs. Knowledge of heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips without titration is required. Nurses will assist in substance withdrawal, orthopedics, and trauma care. Efficient use of isolation precautions and adherence to safety protocols is essential. The nurse must pass an EKG exam as part of the onboarding process. All candidates must be comfortable floating within their service line as needed. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:4 to 1:5. This role provides an opportunity to work in a magnet and teaching hospital environment.
