Lead Mechanical Engineer

Overview Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Profile: Level IV Location: 303 Lexington Rd Building #4, Swedesboro, NJ 08085 Our Swedesboro office is seeking a Senior-level Mechanical Engineer with experience planning, organizing, and developing engineering activities for the construction and maintenance of chemical, refining, midstream oil and gas, energy plants, and facilities. This position will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. This position will also lead our mechanical team within the Swedesboro office. Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Allied Engineering and Design provided pay range. Key Responsibilities Assignments will have leadership and oversight of piping designers as well as interface with project managers to fulfill project requirements. Lead a team of engineers, designers and draftsmen on a day-to-day basis and act as a knowledge resource for the team. Interface and work with other departments to deliver projects on time and within budget. Develop and maintain work plans, schedules/forecasting & budgets. Lead projects from start to finish. Support proposal writing and review efforts. Manage multiple multidiscipline projects and prioritize based on client need. Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications. Participate in design reviews and ensure the highest quality deliverables. Create and develop a project design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment layout drawings from concept through approval. Develop Steady State Hydraulic Modeling for liquids and gases for use in pipe sizing and pump selection. Develop specifications, data sheets, drawing requirements for a complete RFQ package, approve vendor supplied drawings and data for equipment packages including pumps, compressors, meter skids, provers, pressure vessels, tanks, pig traps, control valves and motor operated valves. Develop Technical bid evaluations and make recommendations on specific equipment and components. Coordinate with pipe designers and other discipline designers in the development of project 3D models as well as interdisciplinary reviews. Review and selection of piping specifications. Participate in HAZOP/PHA reviews, client drawing and designs reviews in accordance with industry codes and Company policies. CFR Parts 192 and 195 as well as B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8. Experience and/or certification as a facilitator is a plus. Development of construction scopes of work to be utilized with construction bid packages. Capabilities and Credentials 15-20 years of engineering design experience supporting oil and gas and heavy industrial projects. Four-year engineering degree from an accredited university. Registered Professional Engineer (by exam) or capable of getting PE within 12 months. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to explain complex concepts to clients. Leading a team of engineers and designers. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Work with clients one-on-one. Excellent mentoring skills to help train less experienced designers and engineers. Experience creating PFDs and P&IDs is required. Knowledge of CFR Parts 192 and 195 as well as ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8. Experience performing steady state hydraulic analysis. The ability to work on two or more interdisciplinary projects at once while effectively managing time and prioritizing project deliverables. Travel independently to job sites up to 25% of the time. Proficient in MS Word & Excel in creating documents from scratch. The selected candidate should be eligible for employment in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license and be prepared to pass drug screening and a background check.
