This role will serve as a critical technical leader responsible for configuring, integrating, optimizing, and supporting enterprise applications that enable complex business operations. Location: Houston, TX Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Client‑Mandated) Travel: Minimal Relocation Assistance: Not Available Employment Type: Full‑Time / Direct Hire Additional Compensation: Bonus Program Position Overview The Senior Application Engineer will be responsible for the administration, optimization, integration, and lifecycle management of critical legal technology platforms supporting litigation and eDiscovery operations. The successful candidate will partner with internal stakeholders, technology teams, and third‑party vendors to ensure applications remain secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with evolving business requirements. This role requires a strong blend of application engineering, systems integration, data management, and operational support expertise. Key Responsibilities Application Engineering & Optimization Configure, administer, and optimize enterprise legal technology applications. Design and implement solutions to improve application performance, scalability, and reliability. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Evaluate current application architectures and identify optimization opportunities. Systems Integration Integrate cloud‑based and on‑premises systems with SaaS applications. Develop and maintain APIs, ETL processes, and automated workflows. Support enterprise data migration, synchronization, and conversion initiatives. Troubleshoot complex integration issues across multiple platforms and environments. Technical Support & Problem Resolution Provide advanced Level III support for business‑critical applications. Diagnose and resolve complex application, infrastructure, and data‑related issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective solutions. Maintain service reliability while minimizing business disruption. Lead application upgrades, enhancements, system conversions, and change initiatives. Coordinate testing, deployment, and post‑implementation support activities. Evaluate new platform capabilities and recommend improvements. Partner with software vendors to implement best practices and maximize platform utilization. Collaborate with business leaders and technical teams to address evolving requirements. Act as the primary technical escalation point for application‑related matters. Security, Governance & Compliance Ensure applications meet established security, governance, and compliance standards. Support audit readiness and risk mitigation activities. Implement controls aligned with enterprise security policies and regulatory requirements. Documentation & Knowledge Management Develop and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks. Create troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles. Document system architecture, integration designs, and configuration standards. Subject Matter Expertise Serve as a trusted advisor and technical SME for litigation technology initiatives. Provide guidance and mentorship to technical team members when needed. Participate in an on‑call support rotation for critical systems. Required Qualifications Experience 8+ years of experience in application engineering, application support, systems integration, or similar technical roles. Experience supporting complex enterprise applications in highly regulated environments. Proven success managing application upgrades, integrations, and platform optimization initiatives. Technical Expertise Deep experience with eDiscovery and litigation technology platforms including: Relativity Brainspace Comparable enterprise legal technology solutions Strong experience with: REST APIs ETL Processes SaaS Platforms Hands‑on expertise with: SQL PowerShell API Development & Integration Data Transformation Technologies Emerging Technologies Experience implementing or supporting: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Automation Platforms Intelligent Workflow Solutions Data Analytics Technologies Professional Skills Exceptional troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast‑paced environment. Experience collaborating across technical and business teams. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team objectives. Preferred Qualifications Experience within legal services, litigation support, professional services, consulting, or highly regulated industries. Background supporting enterprise‑scale document management, compliance, or legal technology platforms. Experience with cloud integration architectures and modern data workflow design.
