Job Summary

Our client is seeking a strong DevOps Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer to help standardize and automate country launches for Shopify and related Java-based backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong cloud infrastructure experience, preferably with Azure , along with hands-on CI/CD, scripting, monitoring, operational tooling, and infrastructure automation experience.

This role requires an independent engineer who can identify operational gaps, analyze manual processes, build repeatable solutions, reduce deployment risk, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery with minimal direction. Experience supporting Java-based applications is important, although this is not a feature-development role .

Required

• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, or related engineering roles .
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure; Azure is strongly preferred .
• Solid experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Strong scripting experience with Python and/or Bash/Shell .
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, operational tooling, and infrastructure automation.
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates , or similar technologies.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes .
• Experience deploying and supporting Java-based applications and backend services .
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience implementing cloud security best practices, including IAM and network security.
• Ability to work independently, identify operational gaps, and drive solutions with minimal direction.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, development, operations, and security teams.

Others

• Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure cloud services.
• Automotive industry experience preferred; retail experience is a plus.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms, particularly Shopify , is helpful but not required.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK , or similar platforms.
• Experience with configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet .
• Experience with serverless computing and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and performance tuning.
• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, or HIPAA .
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
