Job Summary:

This posting is being used to fill part-time instructor and secondary instructor positions.

As a part-time instructor in the Health Care Support Services department, you provide instruction in all levels medical assisting, including certificate and/or transfer levels. You work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop an innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success are your top priority. You utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

Secondary instructors act primarily as an instructor in small group skill sessions, demonstrating skills and coaching student skills performance. Additionally, secondary instructors serve as an evaluator of competency in formal skills check-off and in formal skills evaluation sessions, documenter of student skills proficiencies, and may also present individual topic cognitive instruction.

Course assignments are made based on experience, availability, and the needs of the department; as a result, you may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities.

This position requires a strong on-campus presence and may require occasional travel to all three FRCC campuses.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A related associate degree (or relevant current industry license or certification) and 4000 verified occupational/industry hours within five years.

OR

• A related Bachelor’s or any Master’s degree with 18 discipline related credits and 4000 verified occupational/industry hours within five years.

Related Degree, Credential, and/or Occupational Experience: Health Care Administration degree, certified billing and coding specialist, 2000 hours of previous work as a health care office manager within five years, health care supervisor, or owner/operator of a health care facility.

OR Holds, have held/or is eligible to hold one of the following credentials: Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA-C), Medical Doctor (MD), Certified Nurse Midwife, Registered Nurse (RN), Limited Practice Nurse (LPN), and 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within five years.

OR A minimum of 4000 hours of verified related experience, occupational/industry hours in the past five years in the field of healthcare.

OR A Bachelor's degree or higher in a health or science-related field which includes or is in addition to at least 4 credits of healthcare administration or management.

Qualifications can vary based on the course. Additional verified occupational/industry hours and/or experiences may be required depending on course assignment. CTE Credential: This instructor position will be teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. In addition to the qualifications listed above, the selected candidate must have a current CTE credential or the ability to obtain one within one year to teach. Selection Process:

The selection process for this instructor position will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants. Preliminary screening will be based on the completed application package submitted by the candidate. the needs of the College.

Salary Information: The pay range for Part-Time Instructors varies, depending on the type of course, the contact ratio and contact hours. Please refer to our Part-Time Instructor Pay Matrix for detailed information. The pay rate for Secondary Instructor is $41.00 hourly.
