Details Medical Oncology unit caring for all solid tumor cancers across the full disease trajectory, from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as chemotherapy encounters Adult and geriatric patient population Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5 3x12 Day (7:00-19:30) or Night (19:00-7:30) shift options Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling offered Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Uses Epic for computerized charting Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS certification required ONS Chemo certification preferred Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required, current within the last 12 months and in the specialty applied for Oncology experience preferred but not required Skills required in telemetry interpretation and monitoring Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and starting/maintaining IVs Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Experience with isolation precautions and PPE Chemotherapy administration experience preferred Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted Additional Information Provide direct patient care for solid tumor cancer patients across all stages of their cancer journey Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice encouraged Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to strict state requirements Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of the health system are not eligible for a travel assignment at this facility RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-735069.
