Private Equity Associate (Chicago)

Job Summary DLA Piper is seeking private equity associates to join their Chicago office. These associates will advise strategic buyers and sellers, and private equity firms on mergers and acquisitions in a fast‑growing market. Candidates should have between 5‑8 years experience at a leading corporate law firm, with a focus on high‑profile M&A or PE transactions, superior academic credentials, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction preparation and strategy. Draft well‑written, error‑free legal documents including memos, contracts, and correspondence. Assist in managing complex transactions from inception to resolution, including preparation for trials, negotiations, settlements, and closings. Build, maintain, and cultivate strong internal and external client relationships by providing support, updates, and advice. Collaborate with other lawyers and business professionals to develop innovative transaction strategies. Participate in high‑level legal activities such as client calls, meetings, and negotiations. Ensure rigorous compliance with legal standards and regulations. Proactively seek and undertake training and development opportunities. Engage in firm programs, community initiatives, and pro‑bono work to serve underserved communities. Desired Skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Physical Demands Sedentary work: sitting most of the time with occasional light lifting of up to 10 pounds.
