Posting Date: Jul 5, 2026, 7:18:17 PM Primary Location Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39 Job Overview Teacher – responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes under the supervision of the school principal. Performs related duties as required. Responsibilities Plan instruction, provide written lesson plans, and prepare materials in accordance with instructional program objectives. Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate pupil progress, maintaining accurate records of achievements. Implement instructional methods using contemporary learning theory and instructional materials. Participate in developing and implementing new teaching techniques and maintain bulletin board and interest areas reflecting pupils’ current work. Apply knowledge of curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level. Participate in programs to improve student attendance and anti‑vandalism programs. Establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct in the classroom and on school grounds consistent with the Chicago Public Schools' Uniform Discipline Code. Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts; encourage student growth in self‑discipline and positive self–concept. Conduct appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and ancillary personnel; counsel pupils on academic progress, attendance, and conduct. Participate in in‑service meetings, professional staff meetings, and use provided information and materials. Coordinate and attend class field trips and extra‑curricular and after‑school activities. Utilize community resources appropriately. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and all coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education: Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, contemporary teaching principles and practices, classroom and behavior management techniques. Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs and to work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff members, and community representatives. Knowledge of physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils. Good oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and sound professional judgment. Physical Requirements Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, or up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects. Must stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle objects occasionally, talk and hear constantly, use near visual acuity occasionally.
