SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Attorney to join its Hartford team. The attorney will handle insurance defense and general litigation matters throughout all phases of litigation, working closely with the managing attorney and experienced paralegals.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage insurance defense and general litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft and respond to complaints, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and/or Westlaw.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Attend hearings, mediations, pretrial conferences, and court proceedings.
- Negotiate settlements and assist with trials, including jury and bench trials.
- Maintain effective case management, organization, and client communication.
- Accurately track and record billable hours.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- 3+ years of litigation experience.
- Active Connecticut Bar license and good standing.
- Ability to practice in Connecticut State and Federal Court.
- Experience handling litigation through multiple stages.
- Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
- Experience with discovery, depositions, motions, and court proceedings.
- Proficiency with LexisNexis or Westlaw.
- Experience with hourly billing/timekeeping.
- Strong organizational, communication, and case-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Personal injury/auto defense, premises liability, UM/UIM, commercial vehicle, catastrophic injury, or wrongful-death defense experience.
