Insurance Defense Attorney

Attorney - Insurance Defense & General Litigation Location: Hartford, Connecticut Position Type: Full-Time, In-Office Starting Salary: $100,000+ annually, commensurate with experience About The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Attorney to join our Hartford, Connecticut team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of litigation experience and be interested in handling a diverse caseload focused primarily on insurance defense and general litigation . This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys taking ownership of their cases while working alongside an experienced managing attorney, knowledgeable paralegals, and a collaborative legal team. Key Responsibilities Manage insurance defense and general litigation matters throughout all phases of litigation Draft and respond to complaints, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents Conduct legal research and analysis using LexisNexis and/or Westlaw Handle written discovery and assist with all aspects of discovery Attend and defend depositions as necessary Represent clients in court proceedings, including motion practice, hearings, pretrial conferences, and mediations Negotiate settlements and assist with case resolution Prepare for and conduct jury or bench trials, as necessary, in conjunction with the managing attorney Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties Work closely with experienced paralegals to effectively manage cases Maintain accurate timekeeping and meet hourly billing requirements Prioritize multiple matters while maintaining strong attention to detail Qualifications 3+ years of litigation experience Admission to practice law in Connecticut Federal Court admission is a plus Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills Experience with LexisNexis and/or Westlaw required Experience with hourly billing and timekeeping required Strong organization and case-management abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional, client-facing demeanor Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team Strong accountability, attention to detail, and prioritization skills Self-motivated and able to manage competing deadlines Criminal Defense Experience - A Plus In addition to insurance defense and general litigation, the firm represents accused individuals in criminal court throughout Connecticut . Experience with criminal defense is a plus, but not required .
