Research Analyst II - Alternatives

Overview: Completes advanced research to support the activities of more Senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers.Primary Responsibilities:Initiate, research, and recommend new investment ideasUnderstand trends in financial markets and impact on current and future investments.Analyze portfolio risks, exposures, and performance drivers.Participate in development of less experienced personnel.Work with client-facing colleagues to strengthen client relationships and gain new ones.Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks, and pending decisions.Participate in regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy, performance and risk.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Scope of Responsibilities:Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experienceStrong understanding of capital marketsCurrent knowledge of the state of the investment management industryProficient with common industry toolsEducation and Experience Preferred:Advanced degreeMinimum of 5 years’ relevant experienceCFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designationHighly analyticalResearch-driven skill setMotivated self-starter comfortable working with senior managementM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $106,700.00 - $177,900.00 Annual (USD).
