NGM - Capital Analyst

PurposeThe NGM Capital Analyst is a hands-on, site-facing capital finance and project controls analyst supporting Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) and the broader Barrick North America capital portfolio. Reporting to the NGM Capital Superintendent, with functional alignment to the Senior Manager - Capital Controls through the Superintendent, the role supports the NGM capital portfolio across the annual capital budget cycle, quarterly forecasts and phasing, project spend tracking, accruals and commitment analysis, recurring capital reporting, capital data integrity, variance analysis, business case support, capital governance, and post-implementation evaluation. The Analyst partners closely with project owners, project managers, site finance, supply chain, technical services, mine planning, operations, capital accountants, and the broader North America Capital Controls team to gather and validate inputs, maintain project codes, budgets, forecasts, commitments, and actuals, prepare schedules, charts, and supporting analyses, and reconcile data across SAP / ERP, OneStream, project planning tools, and BI platforms. The role is operationally connected, embedding alongside project teams and operations to translate project and capital data into actionable insight, while ensuring NGM submissions, reporting, and evaluations align to North America Capital Controls standards, the capital allocation policy, and templates and cadence set by the Senior Manager - Capital Controls. The NGM Capital Analyst provides decision-support analysis to the NGM Capital Superintendent, NGM CFO, project managers, and site leadership, helping ensure NGM capital execution is well governed, transparently reported, and consistently aligned to Barrick's North America capital allocation framework.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesCapital Budgeting & ForecastingSupport the annual NGM capital budget cycle, including data collection, template population, project-level inputs, consolidations, schedule alignment, and version control across Carlin, Cortez, and other NGM operating areas.Support quarterly capital reforecasts, monthly latest-estimate updates, phasing adjustments, and carryover tracking, validating inputs with project owners, engineering, supply chain, and site finance.Maintain project-level budget and forecast schedules, including cost build-ups, contingency, escalation, currency, and cash flow phasing, ensuring consistency with approved scope, schedule, and authorization.Reconcile capital budgets and forecasts across SAP / ERP, OneStream, and project planning tools, surfacing differences and supporting their resolution under the direction of the NGM Capital Superintendent.Help ensure NGM capital submissions conform to standards, templates, and timelines set by the Senior Manager - Capital Controls and feed cleanly into North America portfolio reporting.Capital Reporting & Variance AnalysisPrepare recurring NGM capital reports on a disciplined cadence, including spend versus budget and forecast, commitments, accruals, phasing, forecast accuracy, and cash flow at project, site, and portfolio levels.Draft variance commentary against budget, forecast, and prior period, decomposing differences into scope, schedule, timing, contingency draw, scope change, escalation, and one-time effects for review by the NGM Capital Superintendent.Maintain risk and opportunity logs for NGM capital, ensuring quantified financial impacts, likelihoods, and mitigation actions are accurately captured, classified, and refreshed each cycle.Prepare inputs into NGM capital dashboards, KPI schedules, and management packs, translating project and capital data into clear charts, narratives, and supporting analysis.Track forecast accuracy across NGM projects and surface systemic forecasting weaknesses or recurring drivers for discussion with the NGM Capital Superintendent and project owners.Project Controls & Data IntegrityMaintain project codes, WBS structures, project master data, budgets, forecasts, commitments, actuals, and cost categorization across SAP / ERP and capital reporting platforms in line with North America Capital Controls standards.Track purchase orders, commitments, goods receipts, invoices, accruals, and capital-versus-operating classification at the project level, partnering with site finance, supply chain, and capital accountants on accrual support and period-end close.Reconcile capital portfolio data across source systems and management reports, including SAP / ERP, OneStream, and project planning tools, supporting traceability and audit readiness.Validate master data, hierarchies, mappings, and reporting logic used across NGM capital cycles, surfacing inconsistencies for resolution and helping maintain a clean capital portfolio dataset.Maintain version control and supporting documentation for capital reporting models, schedules, templates, and outputs, ensuring an auditable trail of changes and approvals.Governance & ControlsSupport compliance with the capital allocation policy, project authorization requirements, approval thresholds, and delegations of authority for NGM capital.Help ensure project classification (sustaining, growth, replacement, study, expensed-vs-capitalized) is applied consistently and supportable, working with project owners and capital accountants on documentation.Maintain documentation standards for authority-to-spend, change controls, and approval evidence at the project level, ensuring decisions are traceable and within delegated authorities.Apply North America Capital Controls standards, governance protocols, and templates to NGM submissions and reporting in coordination with the NGM Capital Superintendent and the Senior Manager - Capital Controls.Support internal control, audit, and assurance reviews on NGM capital expenditure, providing data, walkthroughs, sample selection support, and follow-up on remediation actions as required.Business Case & Project Evaluation SupportSupport financial analysis for NGM capital requests, including expansion and sustaining capital cases, equipment replacement, mobile fleet renewal, infrastructure upgrades, and study-phase capital, under the direction of the NGM Capital Superintendent.Build and maintain supporting workings for project economics, including NPV, IRR, payback, free cash flow, capital intensity, and unit cost impacts, in line with evaluation standards issued by the Senior Manager - Capital Controls.Run sensitivity, scenario, and option analysis on key value drivers - including production, grade, recovery, unit costs, capital estimates, schedule, commodity assumptions, and discount rates - and document results clearly for review.Help pressure-test underlying assumptions, alternatives considered, and execution readiness for capital business cases with project owners, engineering, technical services, and supply chain.Prepare clean, decision-grade business case schedules and supporting analysis for stage-gate, site, and capital committee reviews relevant to NGM.Post-Implementation Review SupportSupport post-implementation and post-completion reviews of NGM capital projects, comparing actual outcomes to approved business cases on cost, schedule, scope, and benefits.Help compile benefits realization analysis across NGM capital projects, including production, cost, recovery, throughput, and economic benefits committed in the original business case.Assist in documenting lessons learned, drivers of variance, and accountability for outcomes, ensuring findings feed into future NGM capital planning, assumption-setting, and prioritization.Support project close-out reporting, including final cost reconciliations, capitalization, asset commissioning, and handover documentation in coordination with site finance and capital accountants.Surface recurring patterns - estimating bias, schedule optimism, scope creep, contingency adequacy - for discussion with the NGM Capital Superintendent and Senior Manager - Capital Controls.Stakeholder Partnership & Site EngagementPartner with the NGM Capital Superintendent, NGM CFO, project managers, project owners, and General Managers across Carlin, Cortez, and other NGM operating areas on capital information needs and decision support.Engage with engineering, technical services, mine planning, supply chain, and operations on capital scoping, estimating, scheduling, contracting, commitments, and execution data.Coordinate with site finance, project accountants, and capital accountants across NGM to gather and validate inputs, clarify submissions, and resolve data and reporting questions.Coordinate with the Senior Manager - Capital Controls and the broader North America Capital Controls and FP&A teams on portfolio governance, reporting cadence, capital allocation policy, and consolidation requirements.Represent NGM capital reporting in working sessions, project review meetings, and joint venture forums where required.Continuous Improvement & Ad Hoc AnalysisIdentify and help implement opportunities to improve NGM capital reporting, processes, templates, control routines, and supporting documentation.Help standardize capital KPI definitions, calculations, and presentation across NGM planning and reporting outputs in coordination with the NGM Capital Superintendent and Senior Manager - Capital Controls.Drive automation, data integrity, and efficiency improvements across capital reporting workflows using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, OneStream, and ERP outputs.Support ad hoc capital analysis, business cases, option evaluation, and decision-support work for the NGM Capital Superintendent, NGM CFO, and Senior Manager - Capital Controls.Other duties and projects as assigned by the NGM Capital Superintendent to deliver on the team's objectives.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Project Management, Mining Engineering, or a related field required.CPA, CMA, CIMA, MBA, PMP, or progress toward a relevant professional designation preferred but not required.2-5+ years of experience across FP&A, project controls, capital accounting, mining finance, operational finance, project evaluation, or capital portfolio reporting.Mining, metals, heavy industrial, construction or project environment, or other capital-intensive, site-facing operating environments preferred, with exposure to sustaining and growth capital an advantage.Demonstrated experience supporting capital budgeting, forecasting, project spend tracking, accruals, variance analysis, or business case evaluation in a complex operating or project environment.Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, structured datasets, driver-based models, and bridges / waterfalls.Hands-on exposure to ERP, planning, and BI platforms preferred, including SAP, OneStream, Power BI, Tableau, Xeras, and other project controls or ERP / reporting systems.Demonstrated ability to handle and reconcile multi-source project and capital data with strong attention to accuracy, traceability, and documentation.Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables across overlapping site, project, and corporate cycles with appropriate guidance.Skills and capabilitiesStrong analytical capability, attention to detail, and a structured problem-solving mindset across project and capital data.Working knowledge of capital controls, project controls, and capital accounting fundamentals, including budgets, commitments, accruals, capitalization, and period-end close mechanics for capital.Site finance and project partnering capability, with a willingness to embed alongside project teams, operations, engineering, and supply chain to translate project activity into financial outcomes.Solid business case and project evaluation fundamentals, including project economics, NPV, IRR, payback, sensitivity, and scenario analysis.Working knowledge of variance analysis fundamentals across scope, schedule, timing, contingency draw, escalation, and one-time effects.High data integrity standards, with attention to WBS, project master data, reconciliations, and systems alignment.Developing systems and data literacy across ERP, planning, BI, and project planning platforms; able to navigate, reconcile, and improve underlying data and outputs.Clear, concise written and verbal communication with finance, project, and operations audiences, including the ability to draft commentary and supporting materials for review.Effective stakeholder coordination skills across project teams, site finance, operations, supply chain, technical services, and corporate functions.Strong organization and time management; able to prioritize across recurring cycles and ad hoc requests and meet demanding deadlines.Disciplined execution, ownership of assigned deliverables, and a continuous improvement mindset.Sense of urgency, learning agility, and initiative.Cultural sensitivity and multi-cultural awareness; able to operate effectively across site, corporate, and joint venture environments.Strong business ethics and alignment to Barrick's values.Core values & Company DNAZero Harm WorkplaceBecause our people are our greatest asset, safety is of paramount importance.
