Senior UX Designer

The Senior UX Designer is responsible for creating user-friendly, visually appealing, and highly functional interfaces across digital platforms. This role involves leading user-centered design processes, conducting user research, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback to deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences for web and mobile applications. Responsibilities:

• Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
• Design overall product functionality to ensure excellent user experience and iterate based on user testing.
• Design interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials as needed.
• Apply a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
• Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys; translate findings into sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Facilitate client product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user testing optimized for various devices and interfaces.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant, strategic solutions related to core and new product functions and features.
• Gather and incorporate user feedback to refine existing interfaces.
• Manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong client relationships.

• Proven experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
• Experience as a UX, interactive, or UI designer for web and mobile applications.
• Ability to define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
• End-to-end user research management from recruiting to synthesis.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canva.
• Thorough understanding of web development technology limitations and appropriate use.
• Experience designing online programs emphasizing emotional aspects of human experience.
• Skilled in creating sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
• Experience iterating product functionality based on user testing.
• Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams including developers, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Effective communication skills for documentation, reporting, and conveying design concepts.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
• Familiarity with the Ontario Design System and Digital Service Standard.
• Experience handling complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder relationships.
• Prior experience in public service or Ontario Public Service (OPS) environments.
