CNC Setup Machinist Second Shift

Job Description Job Description Responsibilities * Set up Vertical Machining Centers on second shift using provided setup sheets and traveler produced by the Programmer * Run jobs on second shift — monitor machine output, maintain quality standards, and keep spindles moving * Conduct and document first article inspection on every setup before releasing to production * Communicate shift-end status to day shift lead — what ran, what is still in queue, any issues or quality flags * Identify and flag any tooling shortages, program errors, or print questions before they cause downtime — does not guess; does not proceed on an assumption that could result in scrap * Maintain machine area cleanliness and tooling accountability during shift * Begin developing programming awareness — watching how setup sheets connect to programs, asking questions, starting to build the knowledge base for the programmer pathway Skills Mastered * Independent setup (simple/moderate jobs) * First article inspection * Offset adjustments * Basic GD&T interpretation * Independent job execution Company Description Bay Machining & Sales, Inc. is a growing High Mix-Low Volume Job CNC machine shop specializing in custom support tooling, precision machining, and repair work, for a variety of industrial clients.
