Industrial Compliance Specialist I, II, or III

Industrial Compliance SpecialistAssists in performing industrial pretreatment inspections, data collection and related work to protect NEORSD's wastewater treatment system through implementation of its Industrial Pretreatment Program and Mercury Program to ensure compliance. Conducts business programs inspections including Sewer Service Charge Based on Usage of the Systems (SSCBOUTS), Surcharge Program, Non-Discharge Status (NDS), and Temporary Discharge Permits to ensure appropriate billing. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.Plans and executes inspections, data collection and analysis and related work in support of the Sewer District's Business Programs for Industrial Customers including Industrial Pretreatment Program, Mercury Program, Sewer Service Charge Based on Usage of the System (SSCBOUTS) Program, Surcharge Program, Temporary Discharge Permits and Non-Discharge Status (NDS)to ensure compliance and appropriate billing. Serves as a technical resource to industrial users, customers, external agencies and other Sewer District staff on compliance with Title I and Title II of the Sewer District Code of Regulations. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must possess basic knowledge of environmental regulations. Candidate must possess effective written and verbal communication, organizational skills and decision-making abilities. Candidate must be detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintain detailed comprehensive records, analyze and organize information, have effective project and time management skills and be well organized. Candidate must possess the ability to effectively plan, coordinate, establish and maintain effective working relationships and prioritize workloads based on available resources. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Candidate must have the ability to interpret and evaluate information and alternatives, produce written technical documents and make decisions regarding equipment and methods to complete work assignments in accordance with regulations.Minimum Job Requirements: Education - Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree preferably in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Environmental Studies or a closely related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as outlined in the Education Equivalencies Policy. Experience Industrial Compliance Specialist I: No prior experience required. Industrial Compliance Specialist II: Candidate must possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial pollution control and/or environmental monitoring. Industrial Compliance Specialist III: Candidate must possess a minimum seven (7) years of experience in industrial pollution control and/or environmental monitoring. Other Requirements: Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the Sewer District's acceptable guidelines. Candidate must obtain a certification of completion of the Red Cross Standard Multimedia First Aid Course and CPE certification.Physical and Mental Requirements: During the course of performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to analyze, communicate, comprehend, coordinate, make decisions, possess general intelligence, interact, interpret, negotiate, possess numerical intelligence, organize, problem solve, have resilience and perform tasks. Physical work will need to be performed, such as balancing, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, driving, feeling, kneeling/squatting, reaching, sitting, standing, talking, typing and walking. Repetitive movements will need to be performed such as simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation. Ability to push, pull and lift from floor to waist, waist to shoulder or floor to shoulder up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis may be necessary. Position will require visual demands of accommodation, color vision, depth perception, far acuity and near acuity. Ability to withstand extremely loud noise exposure for fifteen minutes or longer on an infrequent basis is required. Exposure to environmental conditions such as respiratory hazards, extreme cold/heat (non-weather related), outdoor work, wet/humid conditions, work around large machinery, work at heights and work inside confined spaces is encountered in this position.Pay Range: USD, Commensurate with Experience Industrial Compliance Specialist I: $59,000 - $70,800 Industrial Compliance Specialist II: $65,482 - $81,854 Industrial Compliance Specialist III: $72,701 - $90,875
