Senior Director, Clinical Research, Atherosclerosis

Senior Director role overseeing clinical research strategy and execution for atherosclerosis medicines across all development phases. Responsible for planning, directing, and managing late-stage clinical trials, regulatory submissions, and cross-functional collaboration at Merck.

Responsibilities

• Develop clinical development strategies and plans for atherosclerosis investigational and marketed drugs
• Design, initiate, and oversee execution of late-stage clinical trials from conception through completion
• Analyze clinical findings and prepare regulatory submissions, clinical study reports, and publications
• Manage cross-functional teams including regulatory, statistics, and manufacturing personnel
• Maintain scientific expertise through publication, investigator networks, and conference attendance

Requirements

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree
• Minimum 3 years clinical medicine experience
• 3-5 years industry drug development or academic biomedical research experience
• Demonstrated success overseeing clinical studies and protocols
• Proven scientific scholarship and publication record
• Board certification or eligibility in Cardiology, Endocrinology, or Nephrology preferred
