Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Behavioral Health Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patients and their families feel supported and informed throughout their clinic experience. You will collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate the delivery of impactful and comprehensive treatment plans for our patients. Franciscan Medical Group, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist for the Franciscan Psychiatric and Behavorial Health Clinic in Silverdale, WA. Being embedded within our Family and Internal Med clinics, you work collaboratively with providers and patients to deliver mental health care.

To be successful in this role, you must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with patients and their families. This foundation will be crucial for creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard and understood.

This job is responsible for coordinating and supporting mental health care with the assigned clinic(s) and for coordinating referrals to clinically-indicated services outside the clinic. An incumbent functions as a core member of a Collaborative Care team that is made up of the patient's primary care provider, a psychiatric consultant and, when available, other providers in the primary care clinic. An incumbent may provide evidence-based treatments or consult with other mental health providers when such treatment is indicated.

• Assesses patients, interprets findings, and develops comprehensive treatment plans.
• Implements and updates psychosocial care plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
• Delivers psychotherapy and brief interventions within their scope of practice.
• Educates patients, families, and staff on psychological and substance use issues through various strategies.
• Ensures accurate and thorough documentation according to standards.
• Monitors and improves behavioral health services while demonstrating cultural sensitivity.

Job Requirements

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Master's degree in Social Work and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.


One (1) year of work experience as a member of an interdisciplinary team is preferred.


Licensure/Certification

• Possession of a valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LiCSW) at hire OR within 12 months of date of hire.
• Eligible to be credentialed and enrolled in Medicare and private payers for reimbursement.
