Project Manager

Title Project Manager Type Full-Time/Exempt Reports to Division Supervisor / Division Manager Essential Functions Supervises a team of General Forepersons and their crews, ensuring proper administration, communication, and enforcement of supervisory and economic work practices. Oversees policy enforcement, quality and quantity of work production, adherence to safety practice, employee relations, and interpretation and application of Union Agreements where applicable. Works with Human Resources on employment matters (hiring, discipline, separation, leaves of absence – FMLA/ADA, new hire procedures, Form I-9, interviewing techniques). Promotes fair and reasonable judgment in management of employee conflicts and works with HR to enforce contact policies. Participates in training to administer oral drug testing and attends reasonable suspicion training. Trains and coaches employees on performance, safety training, stand‑downs, and tailgate trainings. Manages daily production related tasks and ensures maintenance and accuracy of records and reports. Provides supervisors, managers, and utility representatives with reports on completed orders, units of work, crew time, distribution, accidents, truck breakdowns, property damage, and employee feedback. Investigates accident reports, damage claims, and may settle minor damage or injury claims. Controls crew costs by effective use of manpower, work methods, equipment, and trimming. Stays informed on new equipment specifications and standard operating procedures. Maintains professional and courteous communication with customers, property owners, public, contractors, utilities, and governmental agencies. Complies with all written company manuals and materials, including the Foreperson’s Manual and Employee Handbook. Operates safely around hazardous equipment, energized power lines, and excessive machine noise; always wears proper PPE. Exposed to varied weather, nature, insects, dust; may work on rough terrain. Performs additional related duties as required. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 4–5 years’ experience on tree trimming or clearing crews and/or successful completion of applicable performance reviews. Excellent leadership skills and ability to handle stressful, multi‑tasking situations. Basic knowledge of trees, arboricultural techniques, and working near energized conductors. Knowledge of ANSI Z133.1-2000 and ANSI A300 standards. Understanding of OSHA rules and guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Basic electrical circuit knowledge; ability to read wiring diagrams. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the public, customers, and employees. Enforces on‑job safety practices. Ability to wear required PPE and travel up to 20% of the time. Physical ability: lift, move, maneuver up to 50 lbs infrequently, 30 lbs frequently; work long hours, overtime, emergencies, call‑out work. Valid driver’s license (CDL), medical card; passes pre‑employment drug test and background check. ISA Certification and herbicide applicator/operator certification/license as required by company and law. Valid First‑Aid and CPR cards.
