About the Unit The Colorado Newborn Screening Program (CONBSP) provides universal screening of newborns in Colorado and Wyoming to identify genetic, metabolic, endocrine, and other disorders early, reducing morbidity and mortality. CONBSP ensures timely follow-up, care coordination, outreach, education, and resources for families and health facilities statewide. About the Position The role supports customer service operations and stakeholder engagement by facilitating communication, coordinating meetings, managing records, and ensuring accurate, timely distribution of screening reports. It also assists general clinical testing operations by maintaining a safe work environment and supporting processes for authorized delivery of test results. Customer Service Reviews, tracks, and documents NBS specimens within the laboratory information management system (LIMS) to ensure timely follow-up actions, including reviewing patient demographics per SOP guidance and reporting specimens requiring additional action to the NBS Supervisor or designated staff. Communicates with healthcare professionals and laboratory personnel, summarizing discussions to confirm understanding and providing resolutions or referrals to appropriate resources. Reviews and enters customer demographic submissions into the NBS information management system. Coordinates with Accessioning and Fiscal groups to maintain accurate demographic and billing-related information. Program Support Assists in maintaining inventory of follow‑up educational and mailer materials. Collaborates with web specialists to update and maintain the NBS website. Provides administrative support to Follow‑Up, including answering phones, faxing, scheduling meetings, resetting stakeholder passwords, filing, record retention, mailing reports, and other assigned tasks. Supports creation of SOPs, educational materials, newsletters, and presentations by assisting with layout design, formatting, data entry into required software, proofreading, submitting drafts to printers, and reviewing content for accuracy. Gathers, cleans, de‑identifies, and shares data with designated staff and stakeholders. Communication Maintains the general email inbox and ensures all communications are properly addressed. Distributes agendas and meeting information for quarterly stakeholder meetings in advance. Minimum Qualifications Experience Only: Four (4) years of relevant experience in a public health campaign program, community health outreach, public health, or public administration. Education and Experience: A combination of related education in public health, biology, community outreach, healthcare, or closely related fields and/or experience equal to four (4) years. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated organization and project management skills. Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with diverse partners. Current newborn screening experience. Proficiency working collaboratively with internal teams, community partners, and medical providers. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including drafting communications for varying audiences. Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to develop creative solutions. Relevant state service experience is considered a preferred qualification. Conditions of Employment Background check required for all positions. Must be available for emergencies and Continuity of Operations Plan activation with immediate report to work. May be required to travel to hospitals, trainings, or conferences 1‑3 times a year.
