Associate, Compensation Business Partner

Overview Ares is looking for an Associate Compensation Business Partner to join the Human Resources team and support the wider compensation function across business groups. Reporting Relationships Reports to: Co‑Heads, Compensation Business Advisory Group. Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client groups to support line‑of‑business compensation needs. Support the wider compensation team with analytics for the annual compensation planning process and for workforce planning and compensation forecasting. Help managers and employees understand Ares’ total compensation approach, key processes, and timelines. Work with HR Business Partners and managers in assigned client groups to support the annual compensation process. Leverage knowledge of the assigned business groups and talent pools to make informed recommendations on broader compensation strategy and individual decisions. Monitor and review individual compensation decisions to ensure consistency across performance, skill set, years of experience, and identify gaps for improvement. In consultation with HRBPs and recruiters, create and maintain compensation grids/ranges and modify them as needed based on market intelligence. Support pay‑equity audits and the annual compensation benchmarking process. Gather market intelligence through peer connections, search firms and other relationships to provide enhanced insight when needed. Support workforce planning, budgeting and forecasting for assigned groups and the wider compensation partner team. Assist in structuring candidate offers, evaluating and pricing buy‑outs, and facilitate the compensation offer approval process. Develop, maintain, and share HR compensation reports and analyses with stakeholders to drive informed decision‑making. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements related to compensation. Complete other related projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related field. Certification: Certified Compensation Professional certification preferred. Experience: 3–5 years of analytical or compensation experience in the financial services industry; asset‑management experience a plus; global compensation experience preferred; experience with Workday and/or other compensation platforms. Technical: High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Access or other databases an advantage. Analytical: Strong analytical mind, passion for process improvement, and ability to research and leverage resources. Organizational: Ability to manage multiple priorities, prioritize deadlines, and work result‑oriented. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; team orientation; client‑service orientation. Detail: High accuracy, detail orientation, and strong time‑management skills. Judgment: Good judgment in escalating issues vs. solving problems independently. Attitude: Self‑starter, dependable, positive attitude, team player, fast‑paced, entrepreneurial spirit, and desire to learn. Integrity: Ability to handle confidential information appropriately with high integrity. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $105,000 – $125,000 plus discretionary performance‑based bonus.
