Senior Cost Accountant

PAY RANGE: 100-125K base plus benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Holiday Pay, PTO, 401K) Our product design and manufacturing client is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this role sits at the heart of our manufacturing cost operations — connecting daily with production and product development teams while also keeping a forward‑looking eye on cost accuracy and margin improvement. You’ll be a true business partner – equally comfortable diving into month‑end close as you are collaborating with cross‑functional teams on pricing strategy and annual budgeting. What You’ll Own Day‑to‑Day Serve as a daily point of contact for operations, ensuring manufacturing costs are accurate, well‑supported, and clearly communicated to the teams who rely on them. Partner with product development and cross‑functional stakeholders to build reliable forward‑looking cost models and valuations. Lead month‑end close activities during the first five business days of each month, including balance sheet component review, cost rollovers, and variance analysis. Conduct ongoing lookback analysis post‑close to identify discrepancies, drive corrections, and continuously improve cost accuracy. Ongoing Responsibilities Maintain and update standard cost systems, including annual cost updates and LIFO reserve schedules. Deliver weekly operational reports (direct labor, purchase price variance, cost of quality) and work with operations to investigate and resolve findings. Serve as the primary liaison for Transfer Pricing with Cascade Designs, Ltd. Contribute to Finance leadership projects and continuous process improvement initiatives. What You Bring Education & Experience A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred — however, candidates with substantial hands‑on experience and a demonstrated track record will absolutely be considered. 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in cost accounting. A history of long‑term tenure; we’re looking for someone who invests deeply in the organizations they join, not someone who moves on every couple of years. Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred; candidates from a services environment with transferable cost accounting skills will also be considered. Technical Skills Hands‑on experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards (JDE) strongly preferred — experience with comparable platforms (e.g., SAP) is a plus. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential; broader Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Word) required. Familiarity with BI and reporting tools; experience with budgeting platforms (e.g., Rupert) and sales analysis tools (e.g., Focus) is a bonus. Solid command of GAAP and standard cost accounting principles, including journal entries and financial reporting.
