The role of this position is to conduct a wide range of individual and group activities of a psychoeducational, social, cultural, or creative arts nature, provide clinical social work evaluations, counseling, monitoring of medication side effects under the direction of a Psychiatrist, case management, and the implementation of W&I 5150. Also included are pre-release planning, crisis intervention, and the maintenance of an ongoing caseload, documentation, triage, consultation, training, education and referral.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position Current or within 90 days of hire, Associate Clinical Social Worker Registration issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution. Minimum of two years post-graduate direct clinical experience in behavioral health, social services, jail or correctional setting. Knowledge and understanding of individual, child, and family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the relation between social work practice and medicine. Knowledge and skills in the areas of individual, group, and family therapy. Excellent understanding of community resources. Demonstrated awareness of, and sensitivity to, dealings with cultural and socioeconomic diversity. Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc. Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy. Advanced understanding of computer and Outlook 365 functionality.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of criminal justice system, state hospital system, forensic mental healthcare, Probation, Parole, and Department of Corrections.

Department Overview Adult Correctional Mental Health (ACMH) is a satellite contract program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The program provides mental health services to incarcerated individuals inside the two Sacramento County jails located in downtown Sacramento and in Elk Grove.
