Graduate Assistant - CSE Engagement Advisor, Student Events

Position Information Title: Graduate Assistant (GA) Compensation: $15 per hour. Tuition and fee waivers up to 24 credits (9 credits fall, 9 spring, 6 summer). Location: Center for Student Engagement, Bridgewater State University. Overview The Center for Student Engagement seeks a full‑time Graduate Assistant to support a caseload of student organizations, specifically advising the Program Council (PC) and participating in student programming. The role provides project‑management experience, collaboration opportunities, and event coverage, while contributing to undergraduate retention. Responsibilities Co‑advise the PC alongside the Coordinator of Student Programs, including facilitating meetings and holding one‑on‑one sessions with student leaders. Participate actively in recruiting and training new student leaders and support their leadership development. Assist with the management and coordination of the University Mascot program. Help plan student programs and provide event coverage, including nights and weekends, when needed. Support a caseload of established student organizations. Educate and enforce U/​CSE policies and procedures for student leaders and the PC. Assist with CSE related trainings, workshops, and retreats for registered student organizations. Guide student organizations through the re‑registration and recognition process. Provide onsite support for events such as The Crimson Experience, Homecoming, Admitted Student Days, and other annual programs. Serve as a role model for students. Carry out other programmatic duties and special projects as they arise during the academic year. Required Qualifications Ability to advise student leaders and groups. Ability to work independently. Weekend availability for events. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Adaptability and ability to thrive in a changing environment. Ability to interact well with diverse segments of the Bridgewater State University community. Preferred Qualifications Prior involvement with student organizations, orientation programs, or event planning in a college setting. Experience with an online student organization management platform (e.g., CampusGroups, CampusLabs). Experience leading, advising, and/or supervising students. Enrollment in a Higher Education Counseling Master’s program. Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
