Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong knowledge of special education compliance, documentation, and progress monitoring
- Effective classroom and behavior management skills
- Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams and families
Preferred Experience:
- Prior teaching experience in self-contained special education classrooms, especially with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Familiarity with ABA strategies, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems
- Experience supporting students with diverse communication abilities, sensory needs, and behavioral challenges
- Crisis prevention or de-escalation training is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction tailored to state standards and each student’s IEP goals
- Apply evidence-based practices to engage learners with ASD
- Develop and implement behavior support plans, fostering skill growth in communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and daily living
- Collaborate effectively with related service providers—including SLPs, OTs, psychologists, and behavior specialists
- Supervise support staff and maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
- Maintain thorough, timely records consistent with compliance requirements
