$300k - $320kPresbyterian Homes & Services
Overview
Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Vice President of Finance to join the Home Office Finance team.
The Vice President of Finance provides enterprise leadership for financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, revenue cycle, cash forecasting, treasury coordination, and finance operations across Presbyterian Homes & Services and its affiliates. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position translates organizational strategy into disciplined financial execution; ensures timely, accurate, transparent, scalable, and compliant financial processes and information; and supports informed decision-making, financial sustainability, and long-term organizational growth. Accountability for the performance of the finance function as a whole rests with this position, which leads through subordinate leaders rather than through direct execution of the accounting cycle.
Responsibilities
The Vice President of Finance leads a distributed accounting and revenue cycle function of approximately 35-40 employees, including controllers and assistant controllers, corporate accounting and financial reporting, accounts payable and disbursements, revenue cycle, billing, and receivables. The position sets direction, approves policy and methodology, resolves escalated and cross-entity matters, allocates resources and talent, and holds accountability to the Chief Financial Officer and Board for the performance of the function as a whole.
Key Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
- Lead enterprise financial strategy and execution in alignment with the organization's mission, operating philosophy, and strategic plan; recommend capital allocation priorities and approve the financial framework, return thresholds, and pro forma standards used to evaluate new communities, expansions, service lines, and other growth investments.
- Own the financial case for organizational restructuring, growth, and new business models, including scenario development and go or no-go recommendations to the CFO and executive team.
- Direct annual operating and capital budgeting, multiyear financial planning, sensitivity analysis, and scenario modeling; own the enterprise financial planning and analysis function, including forecasting methodologies, KRA reporting, and performance management frameworks.
- Hold enterprise accountability for accounting operations, including the general ledger, consolidation, intercompany activity, accounts payable, fixed assets, and the monthly and annual close; approve the close calendar, materiality thresholds, and quality standards; and resolve escalated or judgmental accounting positions.
- Approve and interpret the consolidated financial statements, disclosures, and management reporting; determine the financial information provided to the Board, lenders, auditors, regulators, and operational leaders; and represent enterprise results to those audiences.
- Own the design and effectiveness of the enterprise internal control environment; approve the annual external audit scope, fee, and firm relationship in coordination with the CFO; accept or challenge audit findings; and approve remediation plans.
- Direct enterprise revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and receivables management; set enterprise targets and tolerances for payer mix, reimbursement, denials, bad debt, and credit balances; hold leaders accountable to those targets and direct structural corrective action when results fall short.
- Own the enterprise cash forecast and liquidity position, including forecasting methodology, assumptions, and reporting to the CFO and Board; own operating banking relationships, treasury structure, and cash management policy; and partner with the CFO and VP, Capital Markets on debt compliance, covenant monitoring, and capital structure planning.
- Oversee the enterprise financial compliance framework, tax compliance oversight, and regulatory readiness across states, entities, and business lines.
- Approve the finance and accounting systems roadmap and investment priorities; champion automation, standardization, and process improvement across finance operations.
- Lead financial due diligence, integration planning, controls implementation, and post-transaction finance integration for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
- Determine the organizational design, staffing model, spans of control, and sourcing strategy for the finance and revenue cycle function, including which work is centralized, distributed, automated, or outsourced; lead workforce and succession planning for critical finance roles.
- Present and interpret enterprise financial results, forecasts, and recommendations to the CFO, Board, and Finance Committee, owning the integrity of the materials presented; serve as the CFO's designee on enterprise finance matters and represent Finance to leadership groups as designated by the CFO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's degree preferred.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership with enterprise-level scope and demonstrated success leading through other leaders, developing finance talent, succession planning, and building capability across distributed teams.
- Experience leading multi-entity finance operations, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and revenue cycle functions, with the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into strategic insights, scenario analyses, and actionable recommendations supporting enterprise decision-making.
- Experience with Skilled Nursing Facility billing, Medicaid, Medicare, and multi-state operations. Senior living, healthcare, nonprofit, or regulated industry experience preferred.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, financing activities, lender relationships, or other complex strategic transactions preferred.
- Experience scaling and transforming finance processes, systems, controls, and leadership capability in a complex or growing organization, including enterprise system implementation, automation, process standardization, and change leadership.
- Demonstrated executive presence and ability to communicate complex financial information and recommendations to executive leadership, boards, finance committees, auditors, lenders, operational leaders, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Executive-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, audit requirements, financial disclosures, and regulatory compliance, with demonstrated judgment in managing financial risk, confidentiality, ambiguity, and the balance among mission, compliance, growth, and financial sustainability.
