Sr Building Controls Technician

Our client, a global leader in building automation and facility management services, is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BMS) Technician t o join their team. As a BMS Technician, you will be part of the Facilities Operations team supporting campus-wide building systems. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, a self-driven learning mindset, and excellent troubleshooting abilities that will align successfully in the organization .

Job Title : Building Automation Systems (BMS) Technician

Location: Merced, CA

Pay Range : $38–$47/hour 

What’s the Job?

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation controls across multiple campus facilities.

• Diagnose and resolve automation, HVAC, controls, instrumentation, and low-voltage system issues.

• Modify controls programming and system parameters to optimize building performance and meet customer requirements.

• Perform preventive maintenance, system audits, and network troubleshooting to ensure reliable operation.

• Collaborate with Facilities Management teams to identify root causes, coordinate repairs, and implement energy conservation initiatives.

What’s Needed?

• Must Have: 10+ years of experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Building Automation Systems (BAS); experience with Metasys, Siemens, or similar platforms.

• Must Have: Experience supporting commercial, institutional, campus, or facilities maintenance environments.

• Must Have: Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and building automation controls.

• Must Have: Proven troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and critical thinking skills.

• Must Have: Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, electrical line diagrams, and controls documentation.

• Strong computer skills and experience troubleshooting IP/network-related issues within BMS environments.

• Experience supporting low-voltage systems such as security, access control, or data/network infrastructure.

• Technical degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Experience with energy optimization, preventive maintenance, and system performance improvements.

• Self-motivated professional with strong communication skills and a willingness to continuously learn and obtain certifications.
