Position Summary

The Process Engineer will support manufacturing operations by analyzing production processes, coordinating process improvement initiatives, and assisting with the investigation and resolution of manufacturing issues across forging, machining, heat treatment, and related operations. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to improve efficiency, product quality, and process consistency.

This position is primarily office-based and involves a significant amount of data analysis, documentation, reporting, project coordination, and cross-functional communication. While exposure to the manufacturing floor is important, the ideal candidate is someone with a foundational understanding of manufacturing and metallurgy who is eager to learn, develop technically, and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Support process engineering activities across forging, machining, heat treatment, and manufacturing operations.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, throughput, and process reliability.
• Assist in investigating production issues, nonconformances, and process deviations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production teams to implement process improvements and monitor effectiveness.
• Review manufacturing data, process documentation, inspection reports, certifications, and production records to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, process flow diagrams, and engineering reports.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving productivity, and enhancing product quality.
• Support customer, supplier, and internal inquiries related to manufacturing processes and technical requirements.
• Assist with the evaluation of material performance, metallurgical characteristics, and manufacturing process capabilities.
• Monitor key process metrics and prepare reports for management and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in engineering projects, process validations, and manufacturing optimization efforts.
• Work with ERP and manufacturing systems to support process tracking, reporting, and documentation requirements.
• Support compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, metallurgical, or production engineering environment.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as forging, machining, heat treatment, or metalworking operations.
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy and material properties, including the ability to interpret material certifications and specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and comfortable working with engineering and ERP systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, coachable, and eager to learn in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in forged products, specialty metals, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to machining operations and manufacturing process controls.
• Familiarity with ISO quality systems and manufacturing documentation requirements.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Knowledge of ASTM, ASME, API, or similar industry standards.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
