Payroll Specialist

Job Duties

Responsible for accurately processing Lifeworks payroll and completing related administrative and compliance tasks, ensuring timely and error-free payroll operations.

Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Department: Finance-Payroll

Hours: Full-time; 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday (non-exempt)

Location: Lifeworks Services – Richfield, MN (Hybrid)

Compensation: $24.30 to $27.30 per hour

Bonus Eligible: Yearly

How you’ll be spending your time:

-Processing payroll for designated employee groups with accuracy and timeliness.

-Calculating and applying appropriate withholding taxes.

-Reconciling payroll transactions to ensure accuracy across assigned groups.

-Setting up and maintaining employee payroll records, including deductions and updates.

-Collaborating across departments to support consistent, reliable, and efficient payroll practices.

-Assisting with benefit deductions and enrollment processes.

-Responding to employment verification requests in a timely manner.

-Staying current on payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

-Providing high-quality customer service for all payroll-related inquiries.

-Setting clear performance goals and actively pursuing opportunities to enhance skills and effectiveness.

Minimum Education Required

-Associate degree in Finance or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of payroll and payroll tax experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience totaling at least 5 years.

Minimum Experience Required

-Minimum of 5 years of payroll and payroll tax experience.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and experience with 10-key data entry.

-Ability to navigate and interpret financial databases effectively.

-Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll systems preferred.
