Crescent School District Posting Announcement Job Title: School Counselor, .5 to 1.0 FTE Posting Date: June 6, 2026 Closing Date: Open until filled, first screening June 26, 2026 Contract Terms: School year 2026-27; Salary DOE and certification, per district salary schedule; Benefits per CEA contract. Job Summary The candidate selected will serve as a leader/coordinator of the counseling team, responsible for addressing a broad range of student needs in a comprehensive rural school setting. Responsibilities may include providing academic and emotional or social counseling in individual, small group, and classroom settings; collaborating with school faculty and staff to determine how to maintain the needs and well-being of individual students and the student population as a whole. We are looking for someone who is excited to make a difference for students in our K-12 school. Qualifications Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate certificate preferred, for the role of School Counselor, Social Worker, or School Psychologist Master’s degree preferred from an accredited institution of higher learning Recent, successful counseling experience preferred Knowledge of, or experience in, working with K-8 and 9-12 age students An understanding of the unique academic needs of middle school and high school students and the ability to provide appropriate academic guidance in preparation for graduation from high school, scholarship resources and preparation for school beyond high school, career exploration, etc. Willingness to work cooperatively with students, parents, and other staff members to enhance the educational programs of the school, and participate in the master schedule development with admin staff. Ability to develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with other employees, parents, and students where everyone is treated with dignity and respect Experience working effectively with diverse groups of teachers, students, and parents Experience designing, conducting, and teaching social-emotional lessons Experience conducting small groups grounded in research based practices but designed for the needs of students Experience providing individual student planning and responsive services Experience using student management and data analysis software Strong understanding (through coursework/experience) of issues relating to poverty, and substance abuse Preferred specific training in anger management strategies, peer mediation, peer helper, and character education programs Commitment to Restorative Practices and Positive Behavior Intervention Support Ability to collaborate effectively with community agencies and organizations to obtain support and resources Preferred specific training in developing positive relationships and conflict resolution Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning, and instructional tool Willingness to participate in professional development courses aligned with the school district initiatives, and stay current with research-based practices Essential Functions Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program based on the Washington State Comprehensive School Counselor and Guidance Program Model Work to build relationships and establish trust (with students, parents, and staff) by maintaining a visible presence within the school Teach the social-emotional skills students need to promote academic and career prerequisite foundations for future success Participate as a leader in school-based team meetings aimed at providing students responsive supports (e.g. 504 Team, Student Care program) Guidance Team Coordinator For questions regarding the application process, contact Stephanie Girard at View phone number on click.appcast.io, or email View email address on click.appcast.io Crescent School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, creed, religion, age, veteran or military status, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability, and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
