The Kearney Center exists to provide a pathway out of homelessness by offering emergency shelter, housing support, healthcare access, employment services, and community resources to individuals experiencing homelessness.

We’re looking for a passionate, relationship-driven Business Development Officer who believes meaningful relationships can transform a community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting people to a mission, building partnerships, telling impactful stories, and helping secure the resources that allow our work to continue. What You’ll Do

As our Business Development Officer, you’ll help expand The Kearney Center’s impact by building strong relationships throughout the community.

Your responsibilities will include:

Build Community Partnerships

• Develop relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, foundations, and community leaders.
• Identify new partnership and sponsorship opportunities.
• Represent The Kearney Center at networking events, meetings, and community functions.
• Help increase corporate involvement and volunteer engagement.

Grow Donor Relationships

• Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors.
• Coordinate donor appreciation and recognition efforts.
• Support fundraising campaigns and special events.
• Help strengthen recurring giving and donor retention.

Tell Our Story

• Gather and share powerful stories that highlight the impact of our mission.
• Maintain a library of testimonials, photos, and success stories.
• Coordinate newsletters, impact communications, and donor updates.
• Help ensure our communications reflect the dignity and hope of those we serve.

Increase Community Awareness

• Partner with marketing vendors and community organizations to promote our mission.
• Assist with presentations, social media, email communications, and outreach campaigns.
• Help educate the community about homelessness and The Kearney Center’s services.

Support Fundraising & Organizational Growth

• Research funding opportunities and sponsorships.
• Assist with grant support and fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership on long-term development strategies.
• Track donor and community engagement activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred)
• Experience in fundraising, business development, sales, community relations, nonprofit development, or marketing
• Experience managing donor relationships or corporate partnerships is a plus
• Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems is preferred

We opened in April 2015 as a one-stop-shop for individuals experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in the North Florida region. The Kearney Center provides overnight shelter and daytime services that connect clients with social service providers, case management, and housing-focused programs. The most basic needs (such as a warm shower, hot meal, and clean clothes) are provided alongside information and referrals to a variety of social service agencies in our community.
