The position focuses on preventive healthcare, routine and complex gynecologic services, reproductive health, family planning, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions affecting women's health. The physician will provide comprehensive outpatient care across the lifespan, with an emphasis on early intervention, disease prevention, patient education, and continuity of care.
Working within a Federally Qualified Health Center, the Women's Health Physician will serve diverse and medically underserved populations while collaborating with Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, nursing staff, behavioral health providers, care coordinators, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to improve access to care and promote positive patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient women's healthcare services to patients across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Obtain and review patient medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans.
- Conduct routine gynecologic examinations, including pelvic exams, breast exams, Pap smears, cervical cancer screenings, and preventive wellness visits.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic gynecologic conditions, including menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, reproductive system disorders, and menopause-related conditions.
- Provide comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including contraception counseling, family planning, fertility awareness, and sexual health education.
- Evaluate and manage conditions related to perimenopause and menopause, including hormonal changes and associated health concerns.
- Provide screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for sexually transmitted infections and other reproductive health conditions.
- Perform office-based gynecologic procedures, including IUD insertion and removal, contraceptive implant procedures, endometrial biopsies, and other procedures within the physician's training and demonstrated competency.
- Provide preconception counseling and coordinate referrals for prenatal, obstetric, and specialty care as clinically appropriate.
- Evaluate and manage common acute and chronic medical conditions affecting women's health, coordinating with primary care and specialty providers as needed.
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic laboratory testing, imaging studies, and other clinical assessments.
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans based on patient needs, clinical findings, and established medical guidelines.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and adjust care plans as clinically indicated.
- Educate patients regarding preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle choices, disease risk reduction, reproductive health, and long-term wellness.
- Identify patients with complex medical, behavioral health, or social needs and coordinate appropriate referrals and follow-up services.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and clinical performance improvement activities.
- Support organizational efforts to improve preventive screening rates, patient engagement, continuity of care, and clinical outcomes.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff.
- Provide clinical guidance and supervision to assigned medical staff and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental meetings, provider education, and interdisciplinary care planning activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of advancements in women's healthcare through continuing medical education and professional development.
- Recommend improvements to clinical workflows, medical supplies, equipment, and patient care processes as appropriate.
- Promote culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care that supports Friend Health's mission of serving underserved communities.
Experience
