Job Summary

The Accounting Controller serves as the lead accounting head, supervising all daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the President , the Controller ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards. This role is vital for maintaining fiscal health, building robust financial infrastructure, and translating complex data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

Core Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Closing: Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (including balance sheets and income statements).

• Operational Oversight: Manage and mentor the day-to-day operations of the finance department, including Accounts Payable (AP) , Accounts Receivable (AR) , payroll , and general ledger maintenance.

• Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and reduce fraud. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws, as well as GAAP.

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and guide the preparation of the corporate budget and periodic financial forecasts. Analyze variances between actual results and projected targets.

• Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating all audit requests, schedules, and compliance evaluations.

• Strategic Advisory: Partner with the executive leadership team to analyze operational trends, costs, revenues, and risks to guide financial decision-making.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: with multiple branches, WIP Accounting, and AIA Billing
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field. An MBA or Master’s in Accounting is highly preferred.

• Certification: Certified Public Accountant ( CPA ), Certified Management Accountant ( CMA ), or Chartered Global Management Accountant ( CGMA ) designation is heavily favored.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or assistant controller capacity. Experience in public accounting is a significant plus.

• Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of GAAP guidelines and corporate tax structures. High proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or Workday) and advanced Excel modeling.

• Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of managing teams and effectively explaining financial complexities to non-financial stakeholders.
