The Opportunity

McCain Industrial is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Millwright & Heavy Rigging Field Lead to install, align, maintain, and troubleshoot complex manufacturing machinery and industrial systems across regional plant deployments.

In this hands-on technical role, you will lead machinery installations, precision laser alignments, conveyor builds, and structural rigging operations during active plant outages and industrial installs. Working with an established, craftsmanship-focused firm that values skilled tradespeople over numbers, you will apply your precision mechanical skills to solve complex plant challenges across multi-state facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Installation & Heavy Rigging: Unload, stage, assemble, and set heavy industrial machinery, structural steel bases, and mechanical drive assemblies using cranes, hoists, chain falls, and heavy rigging gear.
• Precision Alignment & Calibration: Align shafts, electric motors, gearboxes, industrial pumps, and roller conveyors to precise tolerances using optical instruments, dial indicators, and laser alignment technology.
• Mechanical Diagnostics & System Repair: Troubleshoot and repair real-time mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures on site to restore client manufacturing operations during tight shutdown windows.
• Field Metal Fabrication & Structural Welding: Perform field cutting, gouging, grinding, and structural welding (SMAW/FCAW) to modify machinery mounts, guardrails, piping, and structural supports during field installations.
• High-Work & Rigging Safety Execution: Execute machinery positioning, structural piping, and mechanical assembly safely at elevation, adhering strictly to OSHA fall-protection and scaffolding safety standards.
• Field Logistics & Deployment Leadership: Execute out-of-town project deployments lasting up to 14 consecutive days, maintaining jobsite tool inventory, hardware staging, and daily safety documentation.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

• Industrial Trade Tenure: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial millwright work, machinery installation, heavy rigging, or industrial plant maintenance.
• Blueprint & Technical Literacy: Advanced ability to read, interpret, and build directly from technical mechanical drawings, equipment assembly schematics, and structural elevation plans.
• Field Deployment Flexibility: Complete willingness and ability to travel regionally via ground and air, including out-of-town stays lasting up to 14 consecutive days.
• Mechanical Systems Fluency: Deep working knowledge of industrial mechanical drives, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission components.
• Rigging Capability: Hands-on experience operating rigging equipment, gantry systems, hydraulic jacks, forklifts, and aerial lifts to move heavy industrial machinery safely.

Preferred

• Certifications & Credentials: Valid CDL Physical, active equipment operation credentials (forklift, boom lift, crane), AWS welding certifications, or active OSHA 10/30 card.
• Multi-Trade Skills: Functional proficiency in industrial pipefitting, basic electrical disconnects/reconnects, or equipment surface preparation/painting.
• Safety Credentials: Confined space entry, CPR/First Aid, or specialized rigging safety certifications.
